2. I can't tell you how happy I am since I went back to 9.0! Desktop is the worst version of AOL I've ever tried to use. I can't imagine why AOL created it. I am pretty Internet savvy and I had innumerable problems, plus it is more difficult to use, and loading takes forever because of the ads. I have rarely had a complaint about aol service in all the time I've been using it, but I am very disappointed in Desktop. Again, I am THRILLED to have 9.0 back.

4. When I converted from 9.1 to AOL Desktop, it went through the paces to convert my email. I then cleaned up by removing my older versions of AOL. But now that I am using AOL Desktop, my old mail (incoming mail saved on my PC) and my separate folders that stored email are not longer visible.
How do I retrieve these old email files? Are they lost forever? Why didn't the conversion process work, despite the lack of error messages?
Thanks,
Jeff

5. I've scoured the AOL Desktop Help section and haven't found anything addressing this error I am encountering using AOl Desktop. I have set up AOL Desktop to access my POP3 e-mail account. I can send and receive e-mail fine. However, when I attempt to reply to a message and send, I get the following error:
"Mail Service Error: Your mail has not been sent. This message will be saved in your drafts folder so you can send it later. E_MAIL_HOST_ABORTED_ACTION, See http://pobox.com/~djb/docs/smtplf.html"
I can reply to e-mail fine from my POP3 account using Outlook and Mozilla's Thunderbird e-mail clients. However, I cannot reply to e-mail using this AOL Desktop software through my POP3 account. I can reply to e-mail, however, using my AOL screen name e-mail account.
I've contacted my domain registrar and they iterate they don't support 3rd party software, but since I can reply to mail successfully with other e-mail clients, I hesitate to say there is anything wrong with my registrar's SMTP server and that it is likely the AOL Desktop software or mailer that has an issue.
If anyone knows of this error and how to rectify it, do let me know.

7. I downloaded Desktop and I love most of it, but the favorites button and the side panels don't work. I've searched all AOL help and the web and nothing to help. I've checked firewalls and all possible links and nothing.I've even uninstalled and reinstalled Desktop and still not working. Anyone able to help with this?

9. Thanks for this new blog. It's great!
Now my first question, why can't we format our screen names in color like we can on the AOL Client?
That's my biggest dislike about AOL Desktop and AIM.
Also, when we do choose to use say 9.1, we can always tell when someone is on AIM or Helix, because their SN turns black.

10. Yeah Desktop is so great, I can't even log onto either of my screen names for the past week. What gives? I have deinstalled the program and reloaded the latest beta version and to no avail, it did not work. That being said, I really don't care if Desktop lives or dies in the AOL world. However, I do have saved files and emails that are very vital to my business and without acces to my accounts through Desktop, I am royally screwed. if any of the brain trusts out there have a solution to my problem, I would appreciate a response.
Best regards,
Dissatisfied AOL Desktop User

11. You asked: "why can't we format our screen names in color like we can on the AOL Client?"
Product response: this feature does not exist in AOL Desktop today, but I agree it's something that would be nice to have. We'll look into this for a future release.
Being able to personalize your online experience is important. In the latest version of AIM (AIM 6.5), you can change the display font of your BuddyList.

12. You asked: "I can't even log onto either of my screen names for the past week. What gives?"
Product response: Right before Thanksgiving, a host issue cropped up which caused problems with sign-in for a small percentage of AOL users.
We identified and resolved the problem earlier today and pushed a fix out a few hours ago. You should be back to normal now -- please let me know ASAP if you're still having problems.
For the remainder of the AOL Desktop Beta test, you can also flag problems and find out about known issues on the AOL Desktop Beta boards: http://messageboards.aol.com/aol/en_us/boards.php?boardId=570149&func=2
Thanks!

13. Why can't I customize my Welcome, You've Got Mail and Goodbye voices anymore???? I loved that I could use a variety of celebrity voices. What happened? And I don't like the limited choices of IM sounds either! What gives?
So disappointing.

16. I don't use AIM program. Is there a way I can get rid of it from AOL Desktop?

17. I have my OS on C: drive and don't have on it to insall any thing more. Why AOL Desktop does not provide an option to install it on a different drive?

18. AOL Desktop is very crowded. Why it doesn’t provide an option like Google to delete modules in which you have don’t have an interest? Also, to distinguish better icon at the top should be colored.

19. I posted this somewhere else before I found this blog. So here it is again.
I have just started using the new release of AOL Desktop. I am really enjoying it and plan on using it instead of my AOL 9 version. I was wondering about the AIM messenger included with the software. It doesn't seem to be the newest version. Can I download the newest version and will it replace the one on the AOL Desktop or is there a feature somewhere I'm missing that will upgrade the version itself.

20. Is this something new with my Email-AOL says it can't retrieve the message part of my mail? I was playing XM radio and thought that was the problem(too many windows open) so I turned off the radio and then was asked to sign on again to ge
t my email-then I have who the email is from but no message.
Another thing-when I want to reply to an email why are you doing it this way now--leaving the original email there?
