How do I go back to using 9.0 or 9.1 after installing Desktop?

We've received some questions asking how to get back into AOL 9.0 or 9.1 after installing AOL Desktop.

Installing AOL Desktop does not overwrite AOL 9.0 or AOL 9.1; it only replaces the desktop shortcut. You don't have to reinstall AOL 9.0 or AOL 9.1, it's still on your machine.

You can launch AOL 9.0 or AOL 9.1 by going to your Start menu and clicking on the "Program Files" or "All Programs" folder. There will be an "AOL" folder inside your Program Files which contains shortcuts to all the installed software. Click on the "AOL 9.0" or "AOL 9.1" icon to launch your previous version of AOL.

Here's a screenshot of this on Windows XP:

You can drag the AOL 9.0 / AOL 9.1 Program File shortcut out of the Start Menu>Program Files folder directly back onto the desktop or anywhere else you wish for ease of access.

You can also create a new icon by copying and pasting it from your Start Menu. The path to get to your Start Menu probably looks like this. Open your "C" drive by opening the My Computer folder. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\AOL.

Another screenshot....

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Laura
