2. Yesterday I had the same problem, it tells me I have to complete a challenge. I have completed the challenge on both aol and IE. It says I have completed the challenge and now can send email....but it won't let me send email and refers me to this stupid challenge thing again and again. I have even restarted 'puter to no avail. And I can not find HOW to talk with live aol help. So I have several pieces of mail I need to get out. I can send a test to myself and that comes through ok, I just can't mail OUT.

3. Horsejt, it sounds like you're getting a "spam challenge". This can happen if someone you sent a mail to marked your mail as spam. You're saying you've already completed the challenge, but just double check by going to http://challenge.aol.com/spam.html -- type in the image to unlock your account so you can send mail again. Hope that helps.

5. Bree, you can customize your background by right-clicking on the background and choosing pictures from your own machine. In our upcoming Beta release of AOL Desktop (codename "Nexus"), you'll be able to have multiple pictures rotating in a slideshow-style.
Turning off the welcome sounds is explained in this FAQ: http://help.channels.aol.com/topic.adp?topicId=ART_223666

6. I just dl 10.0. I am a bit confused. Why can't I have AOL backgrounds for my desktop? Why can't I change the welcome, you've got mail, goodbye sounds like I could before? Thanks.

7. For some reason I cannot log in to AOL using desktop. At the Sign in Screen, the "sign on button" is missing. After entering my screen name and password, all I see is a cancel button, and no button to actually log in. Can you help? Scott

9. I have an AIM e-mail address and I wanted to know if it is still possible to convert it to an AOL address. I have friends who have done this in the past, but I don't see anywhere on the current site or software that allows one to do this. Any answers?

10. I am trying to add a signature to my emails. I go to settings, general, mail and signatures. It says to create a signature click new, but for some reason there is no new button. Some of the box is cut off and there seems to be no way to make it bigger. Any suggestions? I have never seen this before.
Thanks in advance for your help.

11. Sue, it sounds like there's a problem with the entire form "rendering" or appearing for you. There definitely should be a "new" button just to the right of the box where all your signature profiles get stored. Try changing to another Settings tab (Web or AIM) then back to Mail and see if that fixes the issue. Otherwise, try shutting down AOL Desktop then relaunching it and that should work. Let me know.

12. Ed, I'm looking into this for you and hope to have an answer soon.

13. I am sorry. I don't think I really clarified what I meant.
On AOL 9.0, 9.1. AOL has a section where you can chose backgrounds. Why can't I access those on this version? I know I can put my own background on. But I wanted the AOL ones.
What I meant by the Welcome sounds. You know how on previous versions you can set it so a celebrity welcomes you with their voice, or you can use your own sound. and so on. How can I do that on this version?

14. When I sign on it displays a message about my sn login failure to TOS agreemet. Idk something like that. It flashes and then goes away. But it has to do with email. I do not want myscreenanem@aim.com. I added another email I use. Is there anyway to delete the aim one off my email list?
Posted at 8:02PM on Apr 16th 2008 by Bree
15. Now, what I did was I activated the sn@aim.com and it stopped doing the login failure. but I don't want that email at all. Is there a way I can delete it?

16. How do I turn off the "Welcome," "You've got mail," and "Goodbye" sounds in AOL desktop?
Posted at 7:16PM on Apr 17th 2008 by Billhowden
17. In a note of April 11, Laura says Turning off the welcome sounds is explained in this FAQ: http://help.channels.aol.com/topic.adp?topicId=ART_223666
That is incorrect. The discussion in the FAQ applies only to sounds associated with AIM. It does not address the AOL mail sounds.
Posted at 7:21PM on Apr 17th 2008 by Billhowden
18. Bill, the FAQ does contain information for disabling the non-AIM sounds (e.g. welcome, you've got mail, and goodbye) at the OS-level. See the "For Advanced Users" section.

19. Could you help me to get back my favorite list from previous virsion?

20. I had to restore my computer w/CD. I upgraded to the desktop AOL. Now, can't find Favorites or PFC? Did I lose them because I restored my computer or does AOL back them up?
