So here's something you should know about me. I just got a cell phone not too long ago. It does not take pictures or play songs – it makes calls. I finally bought an HD Now I know However, I also have been hearing really great things about it over the last six months. When I was approached to contribute to this blog, it seemed like maybe it was time to give it a trial run. In the coming weeks, I will give you an honest reaction to my experience as I download and go through Desktop, discover what works for me and what doesn't, and how it compares to the classic version I've been used to.
My next blog will be about downloading the new release of Desktop. More to follow, so stay tuned.
Terrie is the lead product manager on the AOL Desktop Affinity software. Terrie works to define new views of Desktop. Like the Asylum Desktop and LemonDrop Desktop. Take a look, they are neat!
Summer is a Sr. Manager for AOL Member Communications. While she has no ties directly to the product development team, she has been a contributor to many AOL blogs over the last few years and is excited to bring a non-product team perspective to the Desktop blog.

2. Welcome, Summer! Can't wait to see how AOL Desktop compares to AOL 9.1!

3. I tried AOL Desktop when it was first introduced & went back to 9.1. The main issue I had (and it was big to me) was there was no way to turn off AOL sounds. If I find out 10.1 has made this possible, I'll give it another shot.

4. I tried 10.0 and I didnt like the email part.
you had to click on each one to delete them unlike 9.1 where the next email is automaticaly highlighted and you can just keep hitting delete. It wasnt very user friendly either. Ill keep my ears open to see if they have improved that.

5. I too did not like the email part that Linda is talking about. It is easier to hit delete and just let them all delete faster in 9.1. One thing I also would like to ask is, why in desktop when you email someone who is already in your address book does desktop ask you if you would like to add that same person to your address book in the format of: "first name, last name ?????????

7. Not sure what Linda and Castle are talking about, but if you have the Read Mail setting set correctly, when I delete an e mail it highlights the next e mail.

8. I have been working with the new AOL Desktop for the past few days. Its been a bit rough. I love the fact that right on my desktop I can have a picture of one of my many sexy male idols. Thats a cool option. But, When its closed, and I sign back on, I have to redo it. How can I make that desktop picture stay?
Plus, The Font file for AOL Desktop has only 8. My older version of AOL 9.1 I was able to drop and drag personal font files into the font folder. For the life of me I can't find the font folder for AOL's new desktop.
Anyone have any advice?

9. Since upgrading to 10.1, I lost UNSEND!!!! I tried to go back to the free version of 9.1 to see if I could get it back, but I can't. I even tried to restore my system to before I upgraded to 10.1, but AOL would no longer launch. I WANT MY UNSEND PRIVILEGES BACK, or I'll use Windows Live only from now on. If AOL doesn't have UNSEND, it isn't anything special anymore.

10. It's UNSEND or "The End".
AOL must restore UNSEND if they want to keep their longtime costumers. Many have and many others will switch providers because it is not offered anymore.
AOL should just add it as a quick download... update.
It cannot be that hard.

11. Unsend is still available, but ONLY on the AOL Client software like 9.0VR and 9.1.
It is not included in AOL webmail anymore.
